During the night of May 18-19, 2023, a Burundian refugee living in the Ugandan capital Kampala was killed on his way to home.
David, originally from Gahweza hill, Kiganda Commune, Muramvya Province, was living in Makerere, Uganda, and working on his own account. He was killed by unidentified persons last night.
According to information reaching Itara Burundi newspaper, two other Burundian refugees escaped a similar attack on Friday, May 12, 2023 and are being treated: Freddy and Emery.
Gitega is said to have sent killers and criminals to the sub-region to destabilize the refugees, according to a source who requested anonymity. “Take care of yourselves,” the source said.
